The ninth International Workshop on Non-Crystalline Solids(IWNCS) was organized by the Department of Physics of the University of Porto from 27 to 30 April 2008. This event took place at the Teatro Campo Alegre in Porto, Portugal. This was the ninth in a series of meetings which began in San Feliu de Guixols (1986) and was followed by subsequent workshops held in San Sebastian (1989), Matalascanas (1991), Madrid (1994), Santiago de Compostela, (1997), Bilbao (2000), Mexico City (2003) and Gijon (2006).
