We examine the effect of dc electric fields on photodarkening (PD) in amorphous As2Se3 films. It is observed that application of an electric field accelerates PD, depending on the magnitude and polarity of the field. The results suggest that charge separation between photoexcited electrons and holes is an important factor for PD to occur, supporting an electronic charging model of photodarkening recently formulated.
