Nanosized hydroxyapatite (HAP Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) powders were characterized before and after depositing on the (Ti-6Al-4V) substrate using neutron diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystallite size of nano-hydroxyapatite powder is 90 nm. After depositing via plasma thermal spraying (PTS), followed by 2 h heat treatment to reduce the amorphous fraction, the deposited coating shows retension of the nanometre crystallite sizes (about 120 nm). The SEM observations reveal a spherical geometry of agglomerated particles.
