OVIPOSITION AND LARVAL STAGES OF GREAT MORMON (PRINCEPS MEMNON AGENOR) LINN. THE BLACK-BODIED SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY

摘要

An investigation was carried out to find the ovipositing behaviour of gravid females and activities of larval stages of Great Mormon. Ovipositing females laid eggs singly only on the plants of the Rutaceae family. Larvae of P, 2nd and 3rd instar stages looked like bird-droppings. The last instan (5th) was purely green in color. Larvae moulted 4 times. Feeding potentialities of the larvae were different according to different maturity stages of leaves.
