Low-titanium (Ti) aluminum alloys were prepared, and the effects of Ti elements on the microstructure, tensile property, and wear property of zinc-aluminum alloys were investigated. The addition of Ti is found to be effective in refining the grain size of the zinc-aluminum alloys. With a Ti content of 0.04 wt.%, the minimum grain size is achieved, and the tensile property of the test alloy reaches the maximum. Wear resistance is improved with decreased grain size. The grain-refining mechanism of the low-Ti aluminum alloys can be explained by the formation of Al_(66)Ti_(25)Zn_9 particles. These particles serve as the nucleation sites and effectively restrict α phase growth.
