The 20 greatest wildlife spectacles on earth: So how did we come up with this List?

when we embarked to discover the world's greatest wildlife spectacles, it seemed - jnitially - like a simple undertaking. But how would we decide which spectacles to include? We wanted to publish a list that, if not definitive - few people are ever going to see eye to eye on such an issue - at least carried authority. You may not agree with any of the spectacles listed here, but you can't deny that they've been chosen by people who know their wildlife. That's because we polled more than 300 of the world's top wildlife photographers, film-makers and writers, together with pre-eminent academics and conservationists. The list includes BBC Wildlife regulars Chris Packham and Simon Barnes, photographers Art Wolfe and Tui de Roy, film-makers such as Alastair Fothergill (who produced Planet Earth) and the BBC's head of the Natural History Unit Neil Nightingale, as well as presenters Kate Humble and Simon King, and campaigners such as David Shepherd. If these people don't know what a truly stonking spectacle is, then who does?
