There's a chill in the air as people set up camp on the pebble-strewn beach, unpacking chairs and opening the lids of steaming Thermos flasks. Camera lenses are trained out to sea, where the crisp morning light is catching on wind-whipped waves. And there's one image that everyone has come here to see: a bottlenose dolphin leaping clear of the water. There are three recognised species of bottlenose, but the common is the world's most widely distributed and the only one to be found in UK waters. You can see them at sites such as Cardigan Bay, Ireland's Shannon Estuary, the Hebrides and here, in the Moray Firth, widely regarded as the best place in Europe to watch dolphins from land.
