Linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)/montmorillonite clay (OMMT) and Potassium Hexaniobate (ONBT)/LLDPE nanocomposites were obtained by masterbatch dilution using a twin screw extruder to obtain samples with 1.5% to 10.0% filled (OMMT and ONBT) content. In the present study, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used and it showed that OMMT and ONBT were well dispersed in the LLDPE matrix due the good interaction between them. In the oxygen permeation test, it was shown that there is a slight decrease in the permeability values with OMMT content increases in the LLDPE. However the value of oxygen permeability of LLDPE/ONBT nanocomposites decreases up to 2.5% ONBT content, followed by an increase and a subsequent decrease. Finally, in the water vapor permeation test, a decrease in the water vapor permeability with an OMMT content increase was observed. On the other hand, ONBT nanocomposites show an increase in water vapor permeability value.
