Optical and Structural Properties of CTAB Templated Mesoporous ZnO

摘要

We report the synthesis of highly crystalline CTAB templated ZnO mesoporous structures by hydrothermal based methodresulting in the self-assembly of zinc ions at the interface of organic molecules and solutions. Structural investigations were carried out using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) to affirm that the particles are crystalline in nature. Particle size distribution and optical properties of the material were analyzed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence spectroscopy respectively. Based on the experimental observations, a mechanism for the formation of wires has been proposed. The results highlight the applicability of this method for the formation of nano-composites by a simple solution based process.
