Geographicaily and culturally, Wyoming is located in the heart of the American West.The West has a special place in American culture. More than a physical location, it's a part of our psyche as Americans that's tied to our history as a nation of risk-takers and builders, homesteaders and pioneers-the kind of people who have, generation after generation, left everything behind in search of new challenges. The idea of the West is tied so closely to the idea of America: an embodiment of hope and freedom-of opportunity unfettered by the policies of faraway kings and bureaucrats- where, at least in theory, people of all backgrounds can pursue their dreams.
