This year's Coal-Gen conference will offer a comprehensive program, said Russell Ray, chairman of the conference program committee and editor of Power Engineering Magazine. With several good keynote speakers and more than two dozen sessions following seven subject-specific tracks, Ray said the event is expected to be very interesting this year. "I think one of the issues that the industry is looking at is the role of coal-fired generation. I think we're in the process of redefining the role of coal-fired power plants and utilities, and now producers are looking for ways to make those coal plants much more flexible tov accommodate the increasing amount of wind and solar added to the grid," he said.
