摘要

The manifestations of the three laws of thermodynamics are explored in a model of an irreversible quantum heat engine which is based on a three-level amplifier. Several approaches, which vary in degree of sophistication, are examined. The analysis focuses on intrinsically quantum mechanical mechanisms that lead to losses of power and efficiency.
