摘要

California growers are facing one of the most serious droughts in the past 20 years. As a result of two years in a row of below-average rainfall, low snowmelt runoff and the largest federally court-ordered water transfer restrictions to hit the stateso far, the majority of California tomato growers in the Central Valley are only receiving half an acre-foot of water during the summer months to water their crops. This is substantially less than the 36 inches of water per acre tomato growers normally need to water their crops during that time span.
