TECO Coal had third-quarter net income of 18.4 million dollars, compared to 21.7 million dollars a year ago. "Results for the quarter were driven primarily by lower volumes and lower prices for conventional metallurgical and steam coals, which were partially offset by higher volumes of synthetic fuel," TECO said. "These results also reflect the effect of the sale of the 49 percent interest in the synfuel facilities to a third party."
