NRG Energy settles claim; bank calls in debt

Troubled Xcel Energy subsidiary NRG Energy was in the news again after the administrative agent for NRG's many lenders, ABN AMRO Bank N.V., last week accelerated 1 billion dollars worth of debt, rendering the debt immediately due and payable. In addition, NRG recently announced that it had settled claims by seven former executives seeking to force the company into involuntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy so that they could recoup back pay.
