Mon View’s main asset, Mathies mine, to be sold in March

Several interested parties, including Massey Energy, are expected to compete in a US bankruptcy court-scheduled March 2 auction to buy Mon View Mining’s long-idled Mathies underground mine in Washington County, Pennsylvania, the debtor’s attorney, Donald Calaiaro, told Platts February 15. Judge Jeffery Deller of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania signed the auction order February 12. The judge said prospective bidders have until February 25 to post a $1 million “good faith” deposit with the court.
