Vigo Coal issued permit for new Red Brush West surface mine

Vigo Coal has been issued an Indiana mining permit for its new 500,000 short tons/year Red Brush West surface mine in Warrick County. Production could start this summer if final Army Corps of Engineers approval is forthcoming. Eric Langer, an official with the state Department of Natural Resources' Division of Reclamation, said a permit covering 248.3 acres was issued to Vigo on May 18.
