The uses of textiles are well-known,from commodities,to industrial materials,to protective textiles and more.What is less known is that a multitude of textiles may be encountered,for instance,while driving along a highway: separator geotextiles beneath the foundation,geogrids installed to stabilize concrete supporting walls,waterproofing systems for bridge skins,etc.Even when paved roads have been left behind,dirt roads may conceal great quantities of geosynthe-tics,buried a foot below the surface.
