FIBRE-LIKE LIGHT EMITTING DIODES

摘要

A research team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) has developed fibre-like light emitting diodes, which can be applied in wearable displays. Traditional wearable displays are manufactured on a hard substrate, which is later attached to the surface of clothes. This technique poses limitations, mainly because inflexible displays are not adequate in practice. To overcome this problem, the research team investigated instead the use of fibres to create light emitting displays, and developed fibrelike light emitting diodes that have the characteristics of both fabrics and displays.
