摘要

The Mine Safety and Health Administration fined Tri-Star Mining 180,000 dollars for safety violations contributing to the deaths of two miners at the Job No. 3 mine in Allegany County, Maryland. Dale Jones and Michael Wilt, both Tri-Star employees, were operating heavy equipment at the base of the highwall when it collapsed, fatally injuring them on April 17 (PCT 4/24). Severe subsidence in two previously worked underground coal seams led to the highwall collapse, according to MSHA (PCT 7/11).
