Looking to expand its lignite operations in North Dakota, North American Coal is preparing a mining permit application for a third mine in the state to be filed possibly in the fall of 2008, a company spokesman told Platts. The mine would be located northwest of Center, North Dakota, Dean Peterson said. He stressed, however, that the plans to open the mine are preliminary and hinge on the producer's ability to secure enough customers.
