A bacterial strain isolated from soil for its potential tocontrol the anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichumgloeosporioides was identified as a Bacillus subtilis. Bacillussubtilis CMB32 produced antifungal agents on M9 brothat 30°C. Biosurfactant lipopeptides produced by Bacillussubtilis CMB32 were precipitated by adjusting to pH 2and extracting using chloroform/methanol, and then werepurified using column chromatography and reverse-phaseHPLC. The molecular masses of the lipopeptides wereestimated by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry as (a)1,080, (b) 1,486, and (c) 1,044 Da, respectively. They hadcyclic structures and amino acid compositions of (a) Pro,Asx, Ser, Tyr, Glx, (b) Glx, Tyr, Thr, Ala, Pro, Ile, and (c)Glx, Leu, Val, Asx, respectively. Further analysis revealedthat Bacillus subtilis CMB32 produced three antifungallipopeptides: (a) iturin A, (b) fengycin, and (c) surfactin A.
