It's Official! Goldman Sachs to purchase Vale's Colombian coal assets

Okay, so it wasn't a surprise and it is one of the few times that the press actually speculated on a potential buyer and got it right. Nonetheless the sale of Vale's Colombian thermal coal assets to a unit of Goldman Sachs Group is big news. Vale S.A. announced it will sell its Colombian properties in a US$407 million cash deal to Colombian Natural Resources, a unit of Goldman Sachs Group.
