Illinois Basin pulled down by a soft market, increased Foresight production

Platts assessed Illinois Basin prices lower for the week ending June 28, based on survey results that indicate soft domestic demand and downward price pressure from Chris Cline's Foresight Energy, the basin's low-cost producer. One basin producer said Foresight is heavily discounting coal from its Hillsboro mine, also known as Deer Creek, in Montgomery County, Illinois, in order to move it.
