EPA postpones ozone transport rules for Midwest, East

The Environmental Protection Agency has postponed until May 31, 2004, the deadlines for two rules that require up to 26 states to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions during the summer "ozone season." The new deadline gives coal-burning utilities and industrial sources in a number of Midwestern and eastern states another year to make sense of, negotiate and litigate the two EPA rules that will reduce and cap NOx emissions during the ozone season.
