摘要

Recently, we have developed a general method to account for size effect on the lattice parameters of nanoparticles [1]. In this method, we assume that a large spherical particle (whose structure is the same as bulk material and the diameter is denoted as d_0) is changed into n smaller identical spherical nanoparticles (whose diameters are denoted as d), which results in the increase of the total surface energy. Meanwhile, the surface energy increase will tend to contract their particle size by distorting their crystal lattice elastically (let us suppose that a small displacement εd results from this elastic distortion, where ε1).
