摘要

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is commercially produced for applications in textile fibres and as a percursor for carbon fibres [1]. Though there is a considerable patent literature on the corresponding technology of film production, PAN films have not been commercialized [2-8]. The principal application that is cited for PAN films is as a food packaging material, because, among vinyl polymers, it is reported to have an exceptional barrier to both moisture and oxygen [9], In this work, an interesting application, namely the use of PAN film as a substrate for xerography (photocopying), is described.
