摘要

Transformation-toughened zirconia ceramics with their improved toughness and relatively low elastic modulus appear to be ideal wear-resistant materials for a variety of engineering applications. Thus, considerable attention has been given to the tribology of zirconia ceramics in recent years and different wear mechanisms have been revealed, such as brittle fracture, materials transfer, plastic defor-mation and tribochemical reaction on the frictional surface, depending on the various friction pairs and experimental conditions [1-8].
