摘要

Materials with ultrafine microstructures are emerging as new generation matrials. A group of such materials, commonly known as compositionally modulated multilayers, has aroused interest recently [1,2]. This materials basically consist of very thin layers, of a few nanometres in thickness. of different materials arranged in an lternate fashion. As a result of the layering at near atomic dimensions, multilayers can possess remarkable and sometimes unique properties not attainable in normal mtallurgical alloys. These properties include improved strength and corrosion resistance.
