摘要

Transition metal dichalcogenides of group IVB, VB and VIB constitute structurally and chemically a well-defined family of compounds [1-8], the most important and striking feature of which is that they crystallize in a quasi two-dimensional layer type of structure which imparts substantial anisotropy to most of their physical properties. This is the reason for the great interest in this family of materials. These layered transition metal dichalcogenide and their intercalation compounds find a wide range of application, e.g. hydrogen storage devices [9], in the field of catalysis [10], high temperature/high pressure lubricants [2], solid state electrolyte batteries [11] and long life photochemical solar cells [12].
