Hydrothermal synthesis of PbTSO_3 from PbO TiO_2

摘要

Perovskite-type lead titanate is an eminent ferroelectric with high Curie temperature, high pyro-electric coefficient, low dielectric constant and high spontaneous polarization. Conventional methods for preparing PbTiO3 fine powders include the chemical coprecipitation method [1,2], the sol-gel method [3] and the hydrothermal method [4-8]. Hydrothermal synthesis is a good method for preparing directly perovskite-type lead titanate without calcination. In previous reports [4-8] on hydrothermal synthesis of PbTiCb, lead nitrate (or lead acetate) and titanium tetrachloride (or titanium alkoxide) were used as raw materials. In the work reported here, the use of lead oxide and titanium dioxide as starting materials to prepare perovskite-type lead titanate was investigated. The main advantages of this method are as follows: (i) the preparation of solutions of raw materials was omitted to simplify processing, (ii) the yield increased markedly because there is no restriction on the concentration of the solution of raw materials and (iii) KOH solution as reaction medium can be reused.
