Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) has been used to produce advanced materials [1]. A centrifugal-thermit (C-T) process or centrifugal SHS process has recently been employed to make ceramic lined composite steel pipes [2,3]. A centrifugal SHS process has been used to produce stainless steel composite pipes [4]. It is very interesting that the stainless steel produced has much better properties than conventional stainless steels.
