Effect of hydrochloric acid on the preparation and characteristics of ultrafine alumina powder

Recently, it has been suggested that monodisperse alumina powders are preferable to alumina ceramic for enhancing densification and controlling grain growth, which gives rise to superplasticity [1]. However, preparation of spherical a-alumina pow-ders is difficult, because of the existence of alumi-nium oxides and hydroxides with different crystal forms and therefore different properties [2].
