We develop a numerical method for obtaining the lower estimate of the shakedown limit. We examine the structures in which the plastic deformations encompass limited regions; in the variable contact interaction case these regions are located at some distance from the contact surfaces. This makes it possible to use the two-level finite-element modeling method. The contact problem is solved with the use of a relatively coarse grid in the global analysis stage. On the local level there is realized the iterative procedure of the elastic compensation method, which simplifies the obtaining of the estimates of the shakedown limit by scaling the loads. Examples are presented of the design of reservoirs for storing oil and the petroleum products.
