In Jagers (2009), it was stated that “when physicists and mathematicians selfconfidently moved on to biology, they equipped themselves with the arsenal of Applied Mathematics [Mathematical Physics] in an attempt to repeat the same success story, as for Physics. At the beginning of the twentieth century Mathematical Biology became almost equivalent to deterministic approaches in terms of differential equations on the level of biological systems or collectives (typically populations).” In this article, I will reflect on how biology and medicine have exploited existing theoretical frameworks and stimulated the development of new technical weaponry.
