Response of oat (Avena sativa L.) to potassium levels under different cutting management.

An experiment was conducted in Rahuri, Maharashtra, India, during the 2005-06 rabi season to determine the effect of K application on oat yield at different cutting management. The treatments comprised: K at 0, 40, 60 and 80 kg/ha; cutting at 50, 60 and 70 days after sowing (DAS). K at 40 kg/ha gave the highest green forage yield (512.47 q/ha), dry matter yield (113.97 q/ha) and crude protein yield (9.46 q/ha). Cutting at 50 DAS gave the highest green forage yield, dry matter yield and crude protein yield (514.37, 122.18 and 9.58 q/ha, respectively).
