In vitro shoot tip culture of sugarcane variety Phule Savitri (Co-94012).

Multiple shoots were obtained from shoot tip explant of sugarcane (cv. Co-94012) cultured in MS medium supplemented with BAP [benzyladenine] (0.5-2.0 mg litre-1), Kn [kinetin] (0.1-0.5 mg litre-1) and IBA (0.1-0.5 mg litre-1). Roots were induced in in vitro-regenerated shoots in half-strength MS medium supplemented with NAA, IBA and IAA at 5.0 mg litre-1 each. Plant regeneration from shoot tips was greatest in MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg BAP and 0.5 mg IBA litre-1. The plantlets were successfully transferred to soil and the percentage of survivability under ex vitro conditions was 70%.
