UniOll declares Strike: Cerrejon's mining operations interrupted

Workers at the Cerrejon mine officially walked off the job Thursday afternoon (February 7) after weeks of contract negotiations failed to deliver a new two-year labor agreement. The union, Sintracarbon, declared "an indefinite strike" against the company. Cerrejon called the decision to strike "unfounded and irresponsible" and said throughout the negotiating process with the union it had shown "a permanent will for respectful and transparent dialogue."
