This paper consists of the results of study on thermal fatigue problems obtained over the last years at the Technical University of Wroclaw. These problems are as follows: a new concept of damage measure and its experimental verification; the effect of the stress state on the behavior and failure mechanism of austenitic steel under thermal cycling conditions; the concept and experimental verification of the equivalence of thermal and mechanical loads, and a new method of determination of constant equivalent temperature.
