Mechanical properties at room and high temperature, and heat-stability tests, are investigated forbi-metal hot-forging die blocks manufactured by means of electronslag refining. The heat-treatmentprocesses are also optimized in this paper. Production tests of the die indicated that the service life ofthe bi-metal die block was 47-80% greater than that of a 5CrMnMo forging die block. The economicbenefit is remarkable.
