In a nation that possesses some of the highest quality coal reserves in the world, one might expect that coal would play a significant role in domestic power generation, but that isn't the case in Colombia. While coal usage could increase in the future, any uptick will be marginal, according to Colombia's Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME).
