The Production Technology of Steel Bars by Direct Quenching and Self Tempering

The purpose of this study is development of directquenching (DQ) steel bars by direct quenching and self temperingprocess. So we investigated the production possibility of DQ steelbars by submerged simulation and then put in practice on line DQrolling by CRCT. The steels by submerged simulation and DQ rollingare obtained microstructures and hardness equivalent to reheatquenching (RQ) steel bars. Also mechanical properties of directquenched and tempered (DQ&T) bars are equivalent to RQ&T bars.Especially strength-toughness balance of DQ&T bars is superior to RQ&T bars.
