摘要

We observed the morphological characteristics and differences in interspecies and inter-cultivars of chestnut pollen grains by using scanning electron microscope (SEM). Though all the pollen grains was same in shape, there was the difference in size.In polar axis length (PL), the longest cultivar was Primato (18.63 mu m) which was a hybrid of Castanea crenata and C. sativa, and the shortest was Lusenta (14.56 mu m) which was a hybrid of C. crenata and C. sativa. In equatorial diameter (ED), the longest was Eaton (9.64 mu m) which was derived from the three way cross with [(C. molltssima,xC. crenata)xC. dentata] and the shortest was Daebo (7.50 mu m). In colpus length (CL), the longest was Primato (15.61 mu m) and the shortest was Lusenta (11.701 mu m). As the result, chestnut pollen grain was small in size and a tricorporate in aperture type, and was observed as both prolate and perprolate type in equatorial view.
