EIA sees bigger role for coal in the United States, but warns new government regulation could taint its predictions

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) is forecasting that coal will remain the primary fuel for electricity generation in the United States through 2030. In its "Annual Energy Outlook 2007" the EIA predicts that coal's share of generation will increase from 50 percent in 2005 to 57 percent in 2030.
