DOE ISSUES 3 MILLION dollars IN COAL STUDY GRANTS

The Department of Energy (DoE) chose 25 projects to divide 3 million dollars in the 25th annual University Coal Research Competition. Teams of professors and their students will investigate Innovative clean-coal technologies. Nine projects will receive grants of up to 200,000 dollars each for core research that directly supports the government's fossil energy program, DoE said. Another 14 projects will receive 50,000 dollars grants each to explore long-range Innovative concepts. Two universities that received long-range concept grants earlier will receive 200,000 dollars to continue their research.
