The quality of Colombian coal just isn't what it used to be, at least according to European fuel buyers. "It's a problem," one source told Coal Americas, "a problem that won't go away any time soon. European fuel buyers are looking for low sulfur coal with a calorific value above 6,000 Kcal. A large portion of the Colombian product that is being shipped to Europe contains a higher sulfur content and lower calorific value than one used to expect from Colombia."
