On the day of the announcement of the ACCORD blood pressure study results on March 14, 2010, presenters at an American College of Cardiology scientific session shared startling preliminary findings from a retrospective observational analysis of data from the International Verapamil SR-Trandolapril (INVEST) study of treatment with an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and/or diuretic plus either a calcium channel blocker or beta-blocker for patients with hypertension and coronary artery disease.
