Dealing with Climate Change in the United States: The Non-Federal Response

Today, only a few lawyers in the United States deal with climate change issues as part of their practice. That is primarily because there are not that many legal requirements dealing with climate change in the United States. However, the number of state programs is growing, and there is an expectation that a mandatory federal program is just a few years away. The lack of a federal response to climate change is interesting in large part because it illustrates one of the great strength of the federal system of government in the United States.
