Chinese 12 percent ash met coke is currently selling at 515.00 US dollars/tonne FOB on the international market. There are two distinct lines of thought on where prices are headed in the future. One group of thinkers believe the price will begin to hold steady at 520.00 US dollars/tonne FOB. Another group of thinkers believe prices could balloon higher to 550.00 US dollars/tonne FOB. Under either scenario, met coke prices remain high in 2008.
