CFE to receive first shipment of contract coal this month, will convert three oil-fired units to coal and petcoke

Mexico's Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) is scheduled to receive the first shipment of coal this month from contracts made in its most recent awards covering a total 11.7 million tonnes. Five companies, including Noble, Glencore, RWE and Vitol, won the contracts, offering Colombian and Australian coal. CFE said prices are in the 71.00 US dollars to 84.00 US dollars/tonne delivered range to the Pacific port of Lazaro Cardenas. The coal will be burned at the 2,100-megawatt Petacalco power plant.
